Your Own Torrents, With a Debrid or Without One
Stremio without a debrid: Webtor's servers play the torrents you add (paid plan). Keep Real-Debrid or TorBox — its cached files play at no charge from Webtor.
How to use Webtor as a debrid alternative in Stremio
Webtor's servers join the swarm instead of your device and play the torrents you add — the ones no cache has, and a fallback when a debrid you connect lacks a file.
Add your torrents to Webtor
Paste a magnet link or upload a .torrent file into your Webtor library — the torrents a debrid's cache never had, or had and dropped. Webtor's servers play them on a paid plan.
Connect your debrid — or skip it
Add your TorBox or Real-Debrid account under Streaming Backends in your Webtor profile. Without one, every play goes through Webtor's servers — on a paid plan.
Install the Webtor addon and press play
Generate your addon URL in the profile and install it in Stremio — the Webtor Stremio Addon page walks through it step by step. Then press play in Stremio.
What a debrid does — and what Webtor does instead
A debrid service keeps cached copies of torrents and serves them over HTTP. Stremio users pair one with the addons that list its links: the file plays from the debrid's servers, so the device never downloads from other peers. The cache belongs to the service — a file that is not in it has to be fetched first, and a cache is not storage: a file stays only as long as the service keeps it.
Webtor.io does the same job for the torrents you bring. Add a magnet link or .torrent file to your library, and the Webtor Stremio addon plays it from Webtor's servers, which join the swarm in place of your device. Webtor is not a debrid: it keeps no catalog of streams and resolves no hoster links — what shows up in Stremio comes from your own torrents, the addons you added and the indexers you connected. Playing through Webtor's servers needs a paid Webtor plan.
The two also combine. Connect your TorBox or Real-Debrid account in the Webtor profile as a streaming backend, and a play first asks that service whether it already has the file; if it does, the file plays through it, with no charge from Webtor. Only what it lacks — or cannot answer for — falls through to Webtor's servers.
Webtor vs a debrid service
Both keep the swarm off your device and hand Stremio a plain HTTP stream. The difference is whose torrents they serve, and what happens when the cache does not have one.
- • Plays your own torrents and magnet links from Webtor's servers (paid Webtor plan)
- • Your device never joins the swarm; Webtor's servers do
- • TorBox or Real-Debrid can be connected alongside; files they have cached play through them at no charge from Webtor
- • Vault keeps a torrent available after its seeders disappear (paid plans)
- • Serves cached copies of torrents over HTTP from its own servers
- • Works with the Stremio addons that list its links
- • A subscription to the service itself
- • A cache, not storage: a file is kept only as long as the service keeps it
The debrid column describes what any debrid service is, not Real-Debrid or TorBox in particular. Real-Debrid and TorBox are trademarks of their respective owners; Webtor is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
Why Stremio users add Webtor
Webtor answers the needs that send people looking for another debrid — without asking you to drop the one you have.
Is Webtor safe to use as a debrid alternative?
Your device never joins the swarm: Webtor.io's servers, or the debrid you connected, fetch the torrent, and your device makes ordinary HTTPS requests. Webtor, like any website, sees your requests. The API token of a connected TorBox or Real-Debrid account is stored in your Webtor profile and used to ask that service for the file you play; remove it there whenever you like.

Drop the .torrent file into the upload area at the top of this page — the step-by-step guide covers the rest.
Read the step-by-step guide →You don't need to install anything: Webtor opens torrent files in the browser on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iOS.
Read the step-by-step guide →Paste the magnet link into the search field at the top of this page. Webtor acts as an online magnet link downloader: it runs the magnet download in the cloud and gives you a direct HTTP download link for each file, plus a built-in player to stream video and audio. Your browser never connects to the BitTorrent network — Webtor servers handle that.
Paste the magnet link into the search field at the top of this page — Webtor opens it in seconds, with no client to install. You can also drag and drop a .torrent file instead. Webtor fetches the data on its own servers, so your browser never joins the BitTorrent swarm; you simply stream or download the files.
Open the torrent in Webtor and download any file by direct HTTPS link — see the guide for the steps.
Read the step-by-step guide →A .torrent file isn't an archive — open it with Webtor and download the real files, or get everything as one ZIP with the Torrent to ZIP tool.
Read the step-by-step guide →Discover is a recommendations page powered by AI. Open it from the main navigation, type what you want to watch (or tap one of the suggested chips), and Webtor returns a personalized list of films — each with a short reason explaining why it fits your taste and what you've watched before. Click any card to start streaming through your usual addons.
Yes — every account gets 2 free AI request(s) per day. Supporters of the project get 15 requests per day. Suggestion chips and the rest of the Discover catalog are unlimited; only the natural-language search counts against the daily quota.
Recommendations are generated by Anthropic's Claude — a fast model for the free tier and a more capable one for supporters. We send the model only your title/year/rating history. No email, IP address, or any other personal data is shared. The response is used purely to suggest films you can stream through your usual addons.
Yes, for security reasons direct download links and streaming sessions are temporary and may expire after a short time. You can always refresh or regenerate them from your library interface.
ZIP archives are generated on-the-fly and don't include full checksum data, so some extraction tools may show a CRC warning even when the file is intact. That's why directory downloads now default to TAR — the TAR format has no per-file checksums, so even an interrupted and resumed download unpacks cleanly. If you prefer ZIP, pick it from the arrow menu next to the download button and use 7-Zip for best compatibility.
Speeds may vary due to the number of seeders, file format (some require real-time transcoding), your internet connection, current server load, and your account type. Premium users get higher bandwidth.
Note: bandwidth is measured in Mbps (megabits per second), while file sizes are shown in MB (megabytes). 1 MB = 8 Mb, so a 50 Mbps connection gives roughly 6.25 MB/s download speed. Supporting the project helps unlock better speed and reliability.
A direct download makes you wait for the whole file before you can watch it. Webtor streams the torrent instead: playback starts in seconds and nothing piles up on your device — and when you do want a local copy, you can still save the file as a regular download. No. A debrid serves cached copies of torrents and resolves links from file hosters. Webtor plays the torrents and magnet links you add, and the torrent streams your own Stremio addons and indexers list, from its servers — it keeps no catalog of its own and resolves no hoster links. For Stremio the result is the same: an HTTP stream, with your device out of the swarm.
Yes. Install the Webtor addon, and the torrents in your Webtor library — plus the torrent streams your other addons list — play from Webtor's servers, so your device never joins the swarm. Playing through Webtor's servers needs a paid Webtor plan.
Yes. Add the account under Streaming Backends in your Webtor profile. A play then first asks that service whether it has the file: one it has cached plays through it, with no charge from Webtor, and one it lacks falls through to Webtor's servers on a paid plan.
Without seeders no service can fetch a torrent — a debrid cache and Webtor's servers alike. Vault, on paid plans, keeps a torrent from your library stored on Webtor, so it stays playable in Stremio and the web player after the swarm is gone, for as long as your plan covers it.
